AI risk management for finance professionals

Whatever your seat, AI is arriving in your work.

Most finance professionals now use AI somewhere, often without calling it that. You do not need to run the firm's framework to use AI well. You need the basics: know what your firm permits and prohibits, do not put confidential, proprietary or client information into public AI tools, treat AI output as a draft to check rather than an answer to trust, review it before it informs a real decision, and know where to raise it when something looks wrong. Under the MAS AI Risk Management Guidelines (AIRG), your everyday choices are the point where the firm's AI risk management either holds or leaks.

The practical test is whether you can tell, for the AI you touch, what it is safe to put in, how far to rely on the output, and who to tell if it goes wrong. A fuller guide for finance professionals is coming.

Where to start

I developed the AIRG while leading AI risk supervision at MAS, and now train finance professionals independently. I am building a fuller guide for finance professionals; subscribe to get it, and future updates on the AIRG.
